ONE DAY TRIPS

 Trip 1. Romans and wines

We leave Benlloch town through the Pas de la Fusta (“the wood trail”) road to find the ancient Via Augusta. We visit important landmarks along the Via, as the Roman arch of Cabanes. On our way back to Benlloch, we stop by a local traditional winery.

Trip 2. Serra d´Engarcerán

Difficulty level: medium

Duration: 1 day

Time on horseback: 4 h

We leave Benlloch town heading for Mas del Colomer (a traditional country house). We ride through pine and holm oak woods and through big areas of almond and olive tree fields. The route reaches the top of the nearest mountains (600 m high) where we enjoy gorgeous views of the Mediterranean Sea and Columbretes islands on clear days. At half way, we stop at Sierra de Engarcerán town to rest and have lunch, where we will taste traditional dishes and wines. We return to Benlloch through the Collet’s road, enjoying nice views over the Pla de L’Arc (Benlloch and Cabanes plain).

 

Trip 3. Serra d´Engarcerán – Mas d´En Coll

We leave Benlloch town heading for Mas d´En Coll, an ancient country house placed in an area inhabited since the Neolithic Age (the New Stone Age). We ride on the mountain range located west to Benlloch, where we will enjoy incomparable views over the Mediterranean Sea and Castellón province, one of the most mountainous provinces in Spain. We will eat in a “Slow Food” philosophy restaurant (Pou de Beca). We ride back to Benlloch after lunch.

Trip 4. The Useres pilgrimage

Difficulty level: medium-high

Duration: 1 day

We drive by car to Atzaneta town, where the riding tour starts. From Atzaneta we head towards Chodos town, visiting on the way the castle and the beautiful fortified hermitage dedicated to Sant Miquel de les Torrocelles (Saint Michael). From there, we follow the pathway of the millenary Useres pilgrimage, riding through one of the most beautiful landscapes of the province. We will enjoy a plentiful and tasty lunch in Chodos, where you can taste traditional dishes and local wines. We ride back to Atzaneta after lunch.
